Surfshark One
The best value VPN in 2026: unlimited devices, Antivirus, 4500+ servers, CleanWeb, Cybersecurity bundle, NoBorders, GPS override, Surfshark Everlink, fast servers in 100+ countries, and watertight privacy.
- Unlimited devices
- No-logs policy
- 100+ countries
- 24/7 support
ePorner sits behind an age verification wall in Australia. Since March 9, 2026, the eSafety Commissioner’s industry codes require adult platforms to check that visitors are over 18, so an Australian IP now triggers an ID check, a face scan or a card check before you can watch anything.
Pornography is still legal for adults in Australia, and the rules put the burden on platforms, not users. But handing a government ID or a face scan to an adult website is a real privacy risk, and many adults aren’t comfortable with it.
I work full-time in cybersecurity and have published more than 600 VPN videos over 3+ years on my AllThingsVPN and VPNR channels. In this guide, I show how to unblock ePorner in Australia with a VPN, which VPNs worked best in my tests, and what the law says.
How to unblock ePorner in Australia: quick steps
1
Get a reliable VPN
I recommend Surfshark One: fast, audited no-logs, and currently 85% off at $2.79/mo on the 2-year plan.
2
Install the app on your device
Surfshark works on Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and Linux, with unlimited devices on one subscription.
3
Connect to a server outside Australia
New Zealand is the fastest choice, and the Netherlands and Canada also worked in my tests. Avoid the UK, France and Italy, which have their own age checks.
4
Visit ePorner in a private window
ePorner sees your new IP, not your Australian one, so the age gate stays hidden. Your ISP can’t see what you’re doing either.
Why is ePorner blocked in Australia?
The eSafety Commissioner registered new industry codes under the Online Safety Act in 2025. The first codes started in December 2025, and the second phase, covering adult sites, took effect on March 9, 2026. Platforms must now use proper age assurance, and penalties reach A$49.5 million.
Methods platforms can use include:
- Photo ID checks with a passport or driver’s licence
- Facial age estimation from a video selfie
- Credit card checks
- Third-party digital identity services such as Yoti
The law targets platforms, not viewers. Still, many adults don’t want to hand biometric data or ID to an adult site, because breaches happen and leaked data can’t be taken back.
Why use a VPN to watch ePorner in Australia?
Beyond skipping the age gate, a VPN brings real privacy and security benefits:
- Your ISP can’t see what you watch: all it sees is an encrypted connection to a VPN server.
- Less IP-based tracking: adult sites and ad networks can’t tie activity to your real IP.
- Safer public Wi-Fi: encryption protects you in hotels, airports and cafes.
- Less ISP throttling: your provider can’t single out video traffic as easily.
- Protection from malicious ads: tools like Surfshark’s CleanWeb block risky pop-ups and scripts.

If maximum privacy matters more than speed or price, Proton VPN stands out. It runs under Swiss law, its apps are open source and audited, and Secure Core routes traffic through hardened servers in privacy-friendly countries first.
It kept about 92% of my base speed. The free plan has no data cap but limited server choice, and the paid plan is $2.99/mo on the 2-year plan with 70% off. Read my Proton VPN review.
What I liked
- Secure Core multi-hop servers
- Swiss jurisdiction
- Open-source, audited apps
- Free plan with no data cap

4. PrivadoVPN: cheapest option and best free VPN
PrivadoVPN is the cheapest VPN I recommend at $1.11/mo on the 2-year plan, with 90% off and 3 months free. Its free plan gives you 10 GB per month, and it’s based in Iceland with a no-logs policy.
Speeds came in at about 85% retention, fine for HD but behind the leaders. More in my PrivadoVPN review.
What I liked
- Cheapest paid plan on my list
- Free plan with 10 GB per month
- Iceland-based with a no-logs policy
What I didn’t like
- Slowest of my top picks
- Smaller server network
5. NordVPN: one of the fastest, but pricier
NordVPN works fine for ePorner in Australia, but Surfshark beat it in my head-to-head tests, about 96% against 91% speed retention, and costs less. Nord’s deal is $3.59/mo on the Plus plan with 75% off and 3 months free.
Double VPN and a huge network are its strengths. See my NordVPN review and Surfshark vs NordVPN comparison.

Other adult sites affected by Australia’s age verification rules
ePorner isn’t the only platform affected. Here’s where the major adult sites stand for Australian users in my latest checks.
| Site | Status in Australia | Works with a VPN? |
|---|---|---|
| Pornhub | ❌ Fully blocked | ✅ Yes |
| RedTube | ❌ Fully blocked | ✅ Yes |
| YouPorn | ❌ Fully blocked | ✅ Yes |
| ePorner | ⚠️ Age verification required | ✅ Yes |
| xVideos | ⚠️ Age verification required | ✅ Yes |
| xHamster | ⚠️ Age verification required | ✅ Yes |
| OnlyFans | ⚠️ Age verification required | ✅ Yes |
| Chaturbate | ⚠️ Age verification required | ✅ Yes |
| SpankBang | ⚠️ Age verification required | ✅ Yes |
Set up Surfshark once and you’re covered for every site on this list, not just ePorner.
Is it legal to use a VPN to watch ePorner in Australia?
Yes. VPNs are legal in Australia and used by millions of people for work, travel and everyday privacy. No law stops adults from using one to reach adult content.
The age verification rules place obligations on platforms, not on adult viewers, and there’s no criminal penalty for an adult who visits ePorner through an overseas server.
Can you use a free VPN to unblock ePorner in Australia?
I wouldn’t recommend most free VPNs here. They usually cap data, throttle video, use weaker security and often log or sell your activity, and some have known leak issues.
Two exceptions are worth a look:
- PrivadoVPN Free: 10 GB per month with a no-logs policy.
- Proton VPN Free: no data cap and no logs, but limited servers and slower speeds.
For a risk-free test of a premium VPN, Surfshark’s 30-day money-back guarantee works like a full month on trial.
FAQ
Is ePorner blocked in Australia?
It isn’t banned, but since March 9, 2026, Australian visitors face an age verification gate before watching videos. A VPN server outside Australia skips the gate.
What is the best VPN to access ePorner in Australia?
Surfshark One. It was the fastest VPN in my tests at about 96% speed retention, supports unlimited devices and costs $2.79/mo on the 2-year plan. Proton VPN is the best alternative if privacy is your top priority.
Which server location should I connect to?
New Zealand gives the lowest latency from Australia. The Netherlands and Canada also worked in my tests. Avoid the UK, France and Italy, which run their own age checks.
Is it legal to bypass ePorner’s age verification with a VPN in Australia?
No Australian law makes it illegal for an adult to use a VPN to view adult content. The obligations fall on platforms. Bypassing geo-restrictions may breach a site’s terms, but that’s contractual, not criminal.
Do I need to verify my age to watch ePorner in Australia without a VPN?
Yes. ePorner asks Australian IPs for a government ID, face scan or card check before showing videos. A VPN replaces your Australian IP so the prompt doesn’t appear.
Will a free VPN work to unblock ePorner?
Most free VPNs aren’t suited to video and many log your activity. PrivadoVPN’s free plan and Proton VPN’s free plan are the exceptions I’d trust, but a paid VPN like Surfshark One is a much better experience.
Does a VPN work for other blocked adult sites in Australia?
Yes. A VPN works for any site that blocks or checks ages by IP, including Pornhub, RedTube, YouPorn, xVideos, xHamster, OnlyFans and Chaturbate.
