IPVanish
IPVanish is my second-ranked VPN for fast everyday performance and unlimited simultaneous connections. Essential is the plan I recommend if you mainly need the VPN.
- 95% speed retention in my updated review result
- Unlimited simultaneous connections
- Convenient Fire TV app
- Higher renewal costs
- US jurisdiction and historical logging concerns
- Two-year offer requires upfront payment
IPVanish is my #2 VPN recommendation, and Essential is the plan I would choose for most people. The offer listed here is $2.39/month equivalent for 24 months, or $57.36 paid upfront, advertised as 84% off with a 3 GB eSIM Data Gift. I recommend it for readers who want one subscription for multiple compatible devices without paying for a bundle of extras they may never use.
Price transparency: I have not independently verified the live checkout for this revision. The price and bonus above describe the offer supplied for this page. Promotions can differ by region and eligibility. I would confirm the total, included extras and renewal terms before paying.
I cover VPNs on All Things VPN and VPNR. Here, I focus on the buying decision: which plan makes sense, what the subscription really costs and how I would test it before committing long term.
IPVanish Essential vs. Advanced: Which Would I Buy?
I would start with Essential if I mainly wanted the VPN. Advanced becomes interesting when its extra services replace something I need or already pay for. I would not upgrade simply because the more expensive plan has a longer feature list.
| Plan | Initial cost | Who I would recommend it to | What I would check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | $2.39/month equivalent $57.36 upfront for 24 months | Readers who mainly want the VPN, unlimited connections and everyday streaming or browsing. | The final total, renewal amount and eligibility for the listed 3 GB eSIM gift. |
| Advanced | Previously listed at $3.59/month equivalent $86.16 upfront for 24 months | Readers who will use the additional storage, browser or security services. | Current price, exact bundle contents, supported platforms and renewal cost. |
My rule for deciding whether Advanced is worth it
The earlier Advanced offer listed 1TB of Livedrive cloud storage, Secure Browser, Threat Protection Pro, phone support and 5 GB total eSIM data. I would confirm those inclusions on the current offer before assigning them any value.
If checkout offered Essential at $57.36 and Advanced at $86.16 for the same 24 months, the upgrade would cost $28.80 in total, or $1.20/month equivalent. That is a conditional comparison using the figures above, not a verified current upgrade quote.
- I would choose Essential if I already had storage and security tools I liked, or only wanted the VPN.
- I would consider Advanced if a confirmed extra replaced a service costing more than the upgrade.
- I would check the details first if cloud storage were the deciding factor: backup, synchronization and file recovery are different capabilities.
My value test: I subtract the Essential upfront total from the Advanced upfront total, then compare that difference with what I would actually spend on the extras. An unused bonus is worth $0 in my calculation.
Monthly, annual or two-year billing?
I compare the total commitment with how long I expect to use the VPN. A low monthly equivalent can suit regular use, but a shorter subscription may cost less overall for a single trip.
For example, if I only used this $57.36 subscription for three months, my effective cost for those months would be $19.12 per month of use. That does not change the advertised rate; it shows why I would check shorter plans before prepaying for two years.
Still deciding whether IPVanish fits your needs?
My full review covers performance, apps, streaming and privacy in more detail so you can choose the service before choosing the subscription length.
Read my IPVanish review →How I Would Claim the IPVanish Offer
1
Open the offer and check the selected plan
I would open the IPVanish promotion and look for the 24-month Essential option. I would confirm the currency and plan name before comparing the price with this page.
2
Check the amount charged today
At the listed $2.39 monthly equivalent, my calculation is $2.39 × 24 = $57.36 before applicable taxes or adjustments. This is an upfront subscription payment, not a $2.39 monthly bill.
3
Read the renewal and refund terms
I would record the next billing date, renewal amount and renewal period. I would also check which refund policy applies to this specific purchase, especially if subscribing through an app store.
4
Check the eSIM before counting it as savings
I would confirm that my phone supports eSIM, meets any carrier-unlocking requirements and works with the offered service. I would check destination coverage, redemption and activation deadlines, and when the data expires.
5
Save the order and test my devices
I would keep the receipt and subscription terms, then test the VPN on the devices and services I actually use while any applicable refund window is still open.
If the price does not match: I would check the tier, subscription length, currency, taxes and optional extras. If it still differs, I would use the actual order summary to decide whether to buy. I would not pay expecting an unlisted discount to appear later.
What Will IPVanish Cost After Two Years?
I would not assume the introductory rate repeats. The previous version of this page listed annual renewal prices of $99.99 for Essential and $129.99 for Advanced. These are historical reference figures, not verified renewal quotes for a new subscription.
To show why renewal matters, if Essential cost $57.36 for the first two years and then renewed at $99.99 for one year, the three-year total would be $157.35, averaging approximately $4.37/month across 36 months, before taxes. I would repeat that calculation using the renewal amount shown in my own checkout.
My renewal checklist
- Save the billing schedule: I keep the amount due today, next charge date and renewal period together.
- Identify the billing provider: I check whether IPVanish or an app store manages the subscription.
- Set a reminder: I leave time before renewal to compare offers and manage the subscription.
- Keep confirmation: If I disable auto-renewal, I save the confirmation and check the account status.
I treat stopping future payments and obtaining a refund as separate outcomes. If I want my initial payment returned, I would follow the applicable refund process and verify that a refund has been confirmed.
What I Get for the Money: Speed and Unlimited Devices
My updated IPVanish review result is 95% speed retention. That represents a 5% reduction from baseline speed. It is a useful indication of performance in my testing, but it does not predict the speed of every connection or server.
| Baseline speed | Speed at 95% retention | Reduction |
|---|---|---|
| 100 Mbps | 95 Mbps | 5 Mbps |
| 300 Mbps | 285 Mbps | 15 Mbps |
| 500 Mbps | 475 Mbps | 25 Mbps |
I calculate retention as VPN-connected speed divided by baseline speed, multiplied by 100. For gaming, I would also measure latency and stability. For video calls and backups, I would check upload performance. The headline retention figure does not establish those separate results.
Unlimited connections: useful, but compatibility still matters
Unlimited simultaneous connections are a main reason I rank IPVanish second. I can cover compatible phones, computers and streaming devices without juggling a small connection allowance.
I still check each device before buying. A console or unsupported smart TV may need a compatible router or shared connection. I would not assume that a device can run the VPN app simply because it connects to the internet.
Fire TV and streaming
I consider IPVanish a practical option for supported Fire TV devices, especially when I want an app I can navigate with a remote. I would check the exact model and operating system before subscribing.
My earlier review reported successful streaming access, but I would test my own services and preferred locations early. Streaming availability can change, and fast downloads alone do not establish whether a particular service works.
How much value does the 3 GB eSIM gift add?
I would count the eSIM as a travel bonus only if it replaces data I would otherwise purchase. For a compatible phone in an eligible destination, it could help with maps, messaging and browsing. I would avoid treating 3 GB as a large allowance for video streaming or hotspot use.
I would also check whether the offer is data-only and when its validity period begins. An eSIM supplies mobile connectivity; the VPN protects supported traffic when connected. I would evaluate those two services separately.
My First-Week Checklist: Find Out Whether IPVanish Fits
I would use the first week to answer practical questions rather than run one speed test and forget about the subscription.
| What I would test | How I would check it | What would make me reconsider |
|---|---|---|
| Everyday speed | Compare several tests with and without the VPN on the same device, starting with a nearby server and WireGuard where supported. | Persistent slowdowns across several nearby servers. |
| Streaming | Try my actual subscriptions on the TV or streaming device I use most. | Repeated playback failures on a service central to my purchase. |
| Calls and gaming | Check a normal call or gaming session for delay, dropouts and instability. | Problems that remain after trying another nearby server. |
| App behavior | Check reconnection after sleep, network changes and any available kill-switch settings. | Unreliable reconnection or missing controls I need. |
| Household devices | Connect my usual devices together and check performance during normal use. | Compatibility problems that require equipment or setup I do not want. |
If something failed, I would record the device, app version, protocol and server before contacting support. That gives me a more useful troubleshooting starting point than simply reporting that the VPN is slow.
Privacy and Drawbacks I Would Consider
I include the drawbacks on a coupon page too. IPVanish operates under US jurisdiction, and its history includes a 2016 disclosure of connection information under previous ownership despite no-logs claims at the time. Later changes and audits are relevant, but I do not treat them as erasing that history.
My full IPVanish review discusses the Leviathan assessment in 2022 and the Schellman assessment in 2025. I would look at an audit’s scope and testing period rather than treat it as a permanent guarantee. I also distinguish VPN activity logs from the account and payment information needed to manage a subscription.
What I liked
- 95% speed retention in my updated review result.
- Unlimited simultaneous connections across compatible devices.
- A useful Fire TV app for supported models.
- Essential lets me focus on the VPN without automatically buying a larger bundle.
What I didn’t like
- The two-year offer requires an upfront payment.
- Renewal can cost substantially more than the introductory rate.
- The historical logging incident remains relevant to trust.
- Features, device support and streaming results can vary.
When I Would Choose Another VPN
Surfshark remains my #1 overall value recommendation, with Surfshark One my preferred balance of features and price. IPVanish is my #2 for unlimited devices, fast performance and budget-friendly offers. I favor Proton VPN when privacy is the main priority, and PrivadoVPN when the lowest cost or a free option matters most.
I would compare the Surfshark offer, Proton VPN offer and PrivadoVPN offer using upfront totals and equivalent subscription lengths. The biggest advertised discount does not necessarily produce the lowest bill.

What IPVanish offer is listed on this page?
I list Essential at $2.39/month equivalent for 24 months, advertised as 84% off with a 3 GB eSIM Data Gift. That works out to $57.36 upfront before applicable taxes or adjustments. I have not independently verified the live checkout for this revision.
Do I need to enter a coupon code?
I use the IPVanish offer link rather than provide a typed code. I would check that the expected promotion appears in the order summary before paying.
Will I be charged $2.39 every month?
No. I use $2.39 as the monthly equivalent of the listed two-year subscription. The initial payment is $57.36 for 24 months before applicable taxes or adjustments.
Is this an exclusive or lowest-ever price?
I do not claim either. Different promotions may have different prices or extras. I would compare the final total, included months and renewal terms before deciding which offer is better.
Should I buy Essential or Advanced?
I recommend Essential for readers who mainly want the VPN. I would consider Advanced only after checking its current extras and calculating whether they justify the additional upfront and renewal costs.
Does IPVanish offer a money-back guarantee?
The terms described in my earlier review included a 30-day guarantee for yearly and longer plans, excluding monthly plans. I would confirm the current eligibility, deadline and refund process for my purchase channel before subscribing, including whether different rules apply to app-store purchases or renewals.
What happens after the first two years?
I would use the renewal amount and billing period displayed at checkout. The earlier $99.99/year Essential figure on this page is a historical reference, not a confirmed quote. I would not assume the introductory price continues.
Will I get 95% speed retention too?
I cannot promise that. The 95% figure is my updated review result. Your connection, device, protocol, server distance and network conditions can produce different results, so I would test my own setup early.
Can I use one subscription on all my devices?
Unlimited simultaneous connections are one of my main reasons for recommending IPVanish. I would still check compatibility for every device, particularly consoles, smart TVs and routers.
Is the eSIM gift recurring or unlimited?
I would treat the listed 3 GB gift as a limited data allowance. I would not assume it repeats with each billing period. Before redeeming it, I would check the destination, compatible devices and activation and expiry rules.
My Verdict: Start With Essential If You Mainly Need the VPN
I recommend IPVanish Essential for readers who want unlimited connections, fast everyday performance and a practical Fire TV app. At the listed $57.36 initial total, the two-year offer is worth considering if I expect to use it regularly. I would confirm the renewal terms and refund eligibility, then test my usual devices early.
