Surfshark is my #1 recommendation for most people, and has been for two years running on my YouTube channel. At $2.49/month on the 2-year Starter plan, it’s cheaper than every other premium VPN I’d actually stake my name on — and it does things the expensive competitors don’t, most notably unlimited simultaneous device connections on every plan.
Surfshark’s no-logs policy has been audited twice by Deloitte, all servers run on RAM-only hardware (nothing persists across reboots), and the feature set — Nexus IP rotation, Everlink self-healing infrastructure, CleanWeb ad blocking, Alternative ID for disposable emails — matches or beats VPNs charging 2–3x more. In my testing, it reliably unblocks Netflix (US, UK, JP), Disney+, HBO Max, Prime Video, and BBC iPlayer.

Worth knowing: Surfshark is now owned by Nord Security (NordVPN’s parent company) but operates as a separate product with separate infrastructure. If you’re a privacy maximalist concerned about corporate concentration in the VPN space, this is a legitimate consideration.

1. IPVanish — Great Value with Unlimited Connections ($2.49/mo)
IPVanish sits in a sweet spot: well under NordVPN and ExpressVPN, level with Surfshark, with unlimited simultaneous connections (matching Surfshark on that front), and a genuinely solid feature set. It’s based in the US — which is worth noting for privacy-focused buyers — but runs a zero-logs policy, supports WireGuard and OpenVPN, and has 3,400+ servers across 112 countries.
The current deal takes 83% off the 2-year Essential plan, landing at $2.49/month — $59.76 total for the first 24 months.
IPVanish also offers an Advanced plan on the same term that bundles in cloud backup, Threat Protection Pro and phone support — worth considering if you’d pay for those services separately.
Best for: Users who want a strong all-rounder at a mid-tier price, households needing unlimited connections without Surfshark’s shark-branding, buyers who want a US-based VPN for specific use cases.
Worth knowing: IPVanish is owned by Ziff Davis (which also owns PCMag — relevant context when reading certain reviews). Renewal is $89.99/year after the first term, so set a calendar reminder to cancel auto-renewal. 2. PrivadoVPN — Best Free VPN Available ($1.11/mo premium)
PrivadoVPN does two things nobody else in this list does well: it offers a genuinely usable free plan (10GB/month, 13 server locations, full encryption, kill switch included), and its paid plan is the cheapest premium VPN on this page at $1.11/month for the 2-year plan (plus 3 months free). The monthly plan, for comparison, is $10.99.
The free plan is the reason PrivadoVPN earns its place in this ranking. Most “free VPNs” are data-harvesting traps; PrivadoVPN is one of the few where the free tier is a legitimate way to try a VPN without a credit card. P2P is supported on all servers, and the premium plan gives you 10 simultaneous connections.
Jurisdiction update — this changed in 2026: PrivadoVPN is no longer a Swiss VPN. In response to Switzerland’s proposed VÜPF surveillance amendments, the company moved its legal home to Iceland — the new entity is Privado Networks ehf., based near Reykjavík, with Terms of Service effective 1 May 2026. Iceland sits outside the 5/9/14 Eyes alliances and has no data retention mandate, so the privacy argument still stands; it’s just a different country than the one most review sites (and some of Privado’s own marketing pages) still list.
Best for: Users who want to test a VPN before paying, anyone on a strict budget, light-usage users whose 10GB/month would cover their needs, people in countries where a credit card commitment is a barrier.
Worth knowing honestly: PrivadoVPN has still not published an independent no-logs audit — a notable gap when NordVPN, Surfshark, and Proton have all been audited multiple times. The Icelandic jurisdiction and clean record are reassuring, but they’re not a substitute for third-party verification. There’s also no warrant canary and the apps are closed-source. If audited no-logs assurance matters to you, Proton VPN or Surfshark are stronger picks at similar price points.

3. NordVPN — Fastest VPN I’ve Tested ($3.49/mo)
NordVPN consistently delivers the best raw speeds of any VPN I’ve tested over the past two years, thanks primarily to its proprietary NordLynx protocol (built on WireGuard). If you have a gigabit connection and don’t want your VPN to bottleneck your bandwidth, this is the one.
Beyond speed, NordVPN brings the deepest privacy credentials of any mainstream VPN: six independent no-logs audits (most recently Deloitte in early 2026), RAM-only servers across the entire fleet, and 9,300+ servers in 137 countries. Features include Threat Protection Pro (a genuinely capable malware/ad blocker), Meshnet (private peer-to-peer networking), Onion Over VPN, and Double VPN.
The deal: 69% off the 2-year Basic plan plus 3 free months. Total: $94.23 charged upfront for the first 27 months ($3.49/month). Note that this is a single upfront payment, not 27 monthly instalments.
Plan tiers changed in 2026. NordVPN’s US pricing page now lists three tiers, not four — the old “Plus” tier is gone. Current 2-year pricing: Basic $3.49/mo, Complete $4.49/mo (adds Threat Protection Pro, NordPass and 1TB NordLocker storage), Prime $7.49/mo (adds NordProtect identity theft cover and cyber insurance — US only).
Best for: Speed-sensitive users (gigabit connections, 4K streamers, gamers), privacy-focused buyers who want the most audited VPN on the market, users in restrictive regions (NordVPN’s obfuscated servers work consistently where others fail).
Worth knowing: At $3.49/month, NordVPN is noticeably more expensive than Surfshark or IPVanish — and as of this update it’s line-ball with ExpressVPN rather than undercut by it. The renewal is also the steepest on this page at roughly $139/year, so the auto-renewal toggle matters more here than almost anywhere else.

4. VeePN — Budget Streaming Option ($1.99/mo)
VeePN is a smaller, lesser-known VPN that offers aggressive pricing and solid streaming performance for the cost. It’s not as well-reviewed as the top-tier players on this list, but it has carved out a niche for users who want a low-cost VPN specifically for unblocking streaming content and aren’t willing to pay Surfshark or NordVPN prices.
VeePN supports streaming across Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video, includes a free tier (though data-limited), and offers apps across all major platforms. It’s headquartered in Panama, outside the 5/9/14 Eyes alliances. The network is 2,500+ servers across 89 locations in roughly 60 countries. Feature set is more basic than the premium VPNs — expect fewer advanced options and less polished apps.
The deal: 87% off the 2-year Basic plan plus 4 free months, at $1.99/month. Pro ($2.49/mo) adds antivirus and breach alerts for 10 devices; Max supports 20 devices. Worth noting: VeePN’s 1-year plan is priced awkwardly at around $3.99/mo, which makes it worse value than either the 2-year or the monthly plan.
Best for: Budget-focused streamers, users who want a second VPN for specific streaming use cases, buyers who don’t need advanced privacy features.
Worth knowing: VeePN has a lower profile in independent VPN reviews than the other providers on this list, and has not published independent audits. Independent testers have also flagged inconsistent speeds. For users prioritizing privacy or performance over price, Surfshark at $2.49/month or Proton VPN at $2.99/month offer more independently verified security. Also note the money-back window is 14 days on the monthly plan, 30 days on long-term plans.

5. Proton VPN — Best Privacy Credentials ($2.99/mo)
If your primary concern is privacy rather than price or speed, Proton VPN is the strongest pick on this list. Made by the same Swiss team behind Proton Mail (the encrypted email service used by journalists and activists worldwide), it’s based in Switzerland — outside the 5/9/14 Eyes intelligence alliances — and operates on physical servers it owns and controls.
Features include Secure Core (routes traffic through multiple Proton-owned servers in privacy-friendly jurisdictions before exit), NetShield (malware/ad blocker), the obfuscating Stealth protocol for restrictive regions, and a genuinely usable free tier with no data cap. VPN Plus gives you 20,000+ servers across 140+ countries and 10 simultaneous connections. In independent speed testing, Proton is among the fastest VPNs available.
The deal: 70% off VPN Plus on the 2-year plan at $2.99/month — $71.76 billed upfront for 24 months. Note that Proton does not add bonus months the way most providers on this page do; the term is a straight 24 months. It renews at $83.88/year, which is the gentlest renewal on this page by a wide margin. This is currently the same price bracket as NordVPN and ExpressVPN rather than an undercut, though Proton discounts far less often than either.
Best for: Privacy maximalists, journalists and activists, users who want the assurance of a VPN company whose entire business model is privacy, open-source transparency enthusiasts (all Proton apps are open-source and audited).
Worth knowing: Proton caps you at 10 simultaneous devices — the same as NordVPN, but well short of the unlimited connections you get from Surfshark, IPVanish and PIA. Also worth tracking: in response to the same Swiss surveillance proposals that pushed PrivadoVPN to Iceland, Proton has said it is relocating the bulk of its physical infrastructure out of Switzerland. The company remains Swiss-headquartered, but “Swiss servers” is becoming a less accurate shorthand than it was a year ago. The 30-day refund is also prorated rather than a full refund.

6. ExpressVPN — Simplest Apps, Premium Brand ($3.49/mo)
ExpressVPN has long been positioned as the premium, easy-to-use VPN — the one you recommend to a non-technical family member. Its apps are the most polished in the industry, its Lightway protocol delivers consistently fast speeds, and it works reliably in countries with heavy VPN restrictions (China, UAE, Russia) where others fail.
Price correction: the promotional pricing that had ExpressVPN at $2.49/mo earlier this year has ended. The current standing deal is 78% off the 2-year Basic plan at $3.49/month — $97.72 billed upfront for 28 months (24 months + 4 free). Advanced is $4.49/mo (adds tracker blocking, the Keys password manager and email aliases) and Pro is $7.49/mo (adds a dedicated IP and expanded ID protection). A July 2026 network expansion took ExpressVPN to 3,000+ servers across 113 countries and 214+ locations, with coverage in all 50 US states.
That means ExpressVPN is no longer cheaper than NordVPN — the two are now at exactly the same headline rate. If you were choosing between them on price alone, that reason has evaporated; pick on apps and restricted-country performance (ExpressVPN) versus speed, server count and audit history (NordVPN).
Best for: Non-technical users who value simplicity above all, users in heavily restricted countries, anyone who specifically wants the most polished VPN apps on the market.
Worth knowing honestly: ExpressVPN was acquired by Kape Technologies in 2021 — the same company that owns CyberGhost, Private Internet Access, and several VPN review sites (including vpnMentor and Wizcase). This corporate concentration is a legitimate concern for privacy-focused users, and worth factoring into your decision. Renewal lands around $99.95/year for Basic.

7. CyberGhost — Largest Server Network, Longest Guarantee ($2.19/mo)
CyberGhost runs 11,600+ servers across 100 countries — the largest server network of any VPN on this list by a significant margin. It’s also the only VPN here with a 45-day money-back guarantee, which is genuinely the longest risk-free trial window in the industry.
Price correction: the $1.59/mo figure previously on this page reflected a promotion that has since ended. The current deal is 83% off the 2-year plan plus 2 free months, at $2.19/month — $56.94 for 26 months. CyberGhost includes dedicated streaming-optimized servers, P2P-optimized servers, and a reasonably polished app experience.
One genuinely good thing about the renewal: CyberGhost’s checkout shows the 2-year plan billing at $56.94 for the first term and $56.94 annually thereafter — meaning it renews at roughly the same rate it was sold at, rather than doubling or tripling like NordVPN, Surfshark and ExpressVPN do. Confirm the renewal figure on your own checkout page before buying, but if it holds, it’s the friendliest renewal on this page.
Best for: Users who want the longest money-back guarantee to properly test a VPN, buyers who specifically value server count for regional access, people who want CyberGhost’s dedicated streaming server workflow.
Worth knowing: CyberGhost is owned by Kape Technologies (same as ExpressVPN and PIA). Its independent audit history is more limited than NordVPN’s or Surfshark’s. The large server count includes many virtual servers (physical location differs from advertised location), which is worth checking for specific use cases. Also note the 45-day guarantee applies to 6-month and longer plans — the monthly plan gets 14 days.

8. Private Internet Access (PIA) — Cheapest Long-Term Commitment ($2.03/mo)
Correction: this entry previously listed $1.33/month against a $79 total for 39 months. Those two numbers never reconciled — $79 across 39 months is $2.03/month, and $2.03 is the correct figure. The deal itself is unchanged and still strong: 83% off the 3-year plan plus 3 free months, $79 total for 39 months of coverage. PIA also runs a 2-year plan at $56.94 (26 months with 2 bonus months) if three years feels like too long a commitment.
PIA is feature-rich despite the low price — it includes its own DNS servers, a built-in ad blocker (MACE), and granular automation controls. It’s also one of the few VPNs with court-verified no-logs (its no-logs policy has been tested in multiple US court cases and held up) and a Deloitte no-logs audit. Unlimited simultaneous connections match Surfshark and IPVanish.
Best for: Users willing to commit to 3 years to lock in the lowest price, torrenters (PIA has strong P2P support and port forwarding on select servers), feature-focused users who want granular control.
Worth knowing: PIA is based in the US (within 5 Eyes jurisdiction) and is owned by Kape Technologies. Streaming performance is inconsistent — it can work well on specific servers for specific platforms, but it’s not the set-and-forget streaming experience that CyberGhost or Surfshark deliver. Speeds fluctuate more than NordVPN or Proton. Renewal is around $56/year. If streaming is your primary use case, CyberGhost or Surfshark are better picks at similar prices.

Who Should Wait to Buy
Two honest flags before you click anything:
If you only need a VPN for a week or two (traveling abroad, for example), don’t buy a 2-year plan. Use the 30-day money-back guarantee as a de facto free trial. Pay upfront, cancel within 30 days, request a full refund. I’ve tested this personally with Surfshark, NordVPN, and Proton — money back within 5 business days, no friction. (Two caveats: IPVanish doesn’t refund monthly plans, and Proton’s refund is prorated.)
If you can wait until late November, Black Friday will be better. Black Friday 2026 falls on 27 November — about 14 weeks out from this update. Historically, prices drop another $0.10–$0.50/mo on most providers and bonus months stretch from 3 to 4. If you can wait, you’ll save roughly $5–$15 over the first term. If your need is urgent, the current deals are genuinely good — don’t let “perfect” become the enemy of “right now.” I’ll update the Black Friday VPN deals page starting in early October.
Right now we’re mid back-to-school season, which runs through mid-September. These promotions are real but modest — they mostly add bonus months rather than cutting the headline rate. Nothing on this page is currently at a seasonal low.
How to Claim a VPN Deal (Step-by-Step)
Every deal on this page works roughly the same way. Here’s the process:
Step 1 — Click the deal link
Click any “Claim deal” button in the table above or on the individual VPN deal pages. You’ll land on the VPN’s official pricing page with the promo pre-applied. Before you continue, confirm the price matches what I listed. If it’s higher, the deal may have changed — email me and I’ll investigate and update.
Step 2 — Pick your plan
For every VPN on this page, the 2-year plan (or 3-year for PIA) is the best value. Monthly plans have no discount and cost 4–6x more per month. Avoid them unless you have a specific short-term reason. One exception worth flagging: VeePN’s 1-year plan is priced worse than either its monthly or 2-year options, so skip it.
Step 3 — Enter the coupon code if applicable
Most deals on this page apply automatically when you click through my affiliate link. A few providers offer exclusive codes through select partners — if one applies, it’ll be clearly marked on that VPN’s individual deal page. Look for the “Promo code” or “Coupon” field at checkout (usually below the payment method) and enter the code exactly as shown. The price on the right should drop immediately. Note that CyberGhost and PIA don’t issue codes at all — ignore any aggregator claiming otherwise.
Step 4 — Watch for upsells at checkout
Nearly every VPN pre-checks additional products or services on the checkout page — dedicated IPs, extra antivirus, cloud backup, identity protection. Uncheck these unless you specifically want them. The base VPN does what you came for.
Step 5 — Pay and start the 30-day (or 45-day for CyberGhost) clock
All major VPNs accept credit card, PayPal, and most accept crypto. Once you’ve paid, your money-back guarantee window starts. If the VPN doesn’t work for you, cancel and request a refund within that window.

- Check competitor deal pages to confirm my listed deal is competitive or better.
- Update the page with current prices, plan changes, and the “Last verified” timestamp.

How often are the deals on this page updated?
Every Monday, without exception. If a VPN launches a significantly better deal mid-week (which happens — ExpressVPN, CyberGhost and PIA all changed terms in the last 90 days), I update that specific entry within 24 hours. The “Last verified” timestamp at the top of this page tells you exactly when it was last checked.
When’s the best time to buy a VPN?
Black Friday and Cyber Monday (late November) are typically the lowest prices of the year, especially for Surfshark, NordVPN, ExpressVPN, and CyberGhost. Christmas and New Year also see strong deals but usually not quite as deep as Black Friday. Back-to-school (August–September), spring and summer deals are incremental — you’ll typically get bonus months rather than a lower headline rate.
If your VPN need is urgent, buy today. If your need is optional and you can wait until late October, the Black Friday deals will be meaningfully better.
Can I combine two coupon codes?
No. Every VPN affiliate program I’ve worked with allows one code per purchase. The codes on this page are already the best single code I can get you.
What happens when my plan renews?
This is the single biggest honesty issue with VPN deals — most VPNs do it. Your discounted long-term plan auto-renews at the standard annual rate, not the discounted rate. Current renewal figures:
- NordVPN: around $139/year
- ExpressVPN: around $99.95/year
- IPVanish: $89.99/year
- Proton VPN: $83.88/year
- Surfshark: $59.76/year
- PIA: around $56/year
- CyberGhost: around $56.94/year — effectively the same as the intro rate, which is unusual and in CyberGhost’s favour
How to avoid the renewal price: Go into your account settings after buying and disable auto-renewal. When your term ends, your subscription will expire. Then buy a new long-term plan at the current promo pricing (these deals are perpetual). You’ll save hundreds over the long term.

Is it safe to buy a VPN through your affiliate link?
Yes. Affiliate links redirect you to the VPN’s official website — I don’t process your payment, don’t see your payment details, and don’t touch your account. The commission I earn comes from the VPN’s marketing budget, not your price. The deals on this page are the same price as you’d pay going direct.
What if I find a better VPN deal elsewhere?
Send it to me. If it’s a legitimate, verifiable deal that’s better than what I’m listing, I’ll update this page and credit you. I’d rather lose a single commission than miss a better deal because of pride.
Do these deals work outside the US?
Yes, all the VPNs on this page are available globally except in a small number of restricted countries (mainly those with VPN bans). Pricing is typically shown in USD but charged in your local currency at the prevailing rate. Some VPNs run regional pricing — what you see at checkout may differ slightly if you’re buying from Spain, the UK, India, etc. The discount percentage stays the same. PrivadoVPN is a useful exception: it applies the same numeric rate across USD, GBP and EUR.
Can I use a free trial instead of paying?
Four options here: PrivadoVPN has a genuine free tier with 10GB/month and no time limit. Proton VPN has a free tier with unlimited data and no time limit, but one device and limited server choice. Surfshark offers a 7-day free trial via mobile apps. NordVPN offers a free trial on Android via the Play Store.
For the others, the 30-day (or 45-day for CyberGhost) money-back guarantee acts as a functional free trial: you pay upfront, test the full service, cancel and request a refund if not satisfied.
