Despite the bargain price, it did the job in my UK streaming tests: BBC iPlayer, ITVX and Channel 4 all worked from its UK servers. It also offers the best free VPN plan I have tested. You get 10 GB of data per month on the free tier with actual server selection, which makes it far more usable than most free offerings if you just need occasional protection.
The trade-offs are real, though. At roughly 85% speed retention, PrivadoVPN was the slowest premium pick in my testing alongside PIA. That is still plenty for HD streaming and everyday browsing, but if you have gigabit fibre you will feel the difference.
