It’s based in Iceland, run by Privado Networks ehf. Iceland sits outside the 5/9/14 Eyes alliances and has no data retention mandate, which is a strong fit for privacy-minded UK users.
Despite the bargain price, it did the job in my UK streaming tests: BBC iPlayer, ITVX and Channel 4 all worked from its UK servers.
