If you’ve searched for the best VPN for Polymarket, you’ve probably hit a wall of conflicting advice. The situation changed at the end of 2025, and a lot of articles are still stuck in the old reality.
There are now two different products that share the Polymarket name:
- The global app at polymarket.com, which is crypto based and geoblocked for US IP addresses and many other countries.
- Polymarket US, a separate, CFTC regulated venue that launched for US residents in December 2025.
Which one you should use depends entirely on where you live, and that’s the part most VPN guides quietly skip. I tested 20+ VPNs on speed, privacy and stability on crypto and trading sites, and below are my picks, led by Surfshark One.
Can you actually use Polymarket in the US in 2026?
Yes, but probably not the way you expect. In late 2025, the CFTC cleared Polymarket to run a regulated US venue after it acquired a licensed exchange, and Polymarket US went live for US residents in December 2025. It’s the only Polymarket product US residents can lawfully use today.
Polymarket US is a different animal from the app most people picture:
- It’s a regulated exchange that requires full identity checks.
- It settles in US dollars rather than crypto.
- It launched with a waitlist and sports contracts first, with a gradual rollout since.
Polymarket has also asked the CFTC for permission to reopen its main global exchange to US users. As of this update, I haven’t found any sign that request was approved, so check the latest news before you act.
Is using a VPN for Polymarket legal?
Running a VPN is legal in the US and most countries. The problems start with what you do while connected.
Using a VPN to bypass a geoblock that exists for regulatory reasons breaches Polymarket’s terms, can cost you your account and can put your deposits at risk. In some countries, online prediction betting itself is restricted, VPN or not.
So the honest answer: the tool is legal, the workaround is against the rules, and the consequences fall on you. That’s why I treat the VPNs below as privacy and security tools first.
When a VPN genuinely makes sense for Polymarket
There are real, sensible reasons to run a VPN alongside a prediction market that have nothing to do with dodging a block:
Reasonable uses
- You live in a country where Polymarket is permitted and want your crypto and trading activity hidden from your ISP
- You trade from hotel, airport or café Wi-Fi and want protection from snooping on the local network
- You want ad, tracker and malicious site blocking around crypto pages, which are full of fingerprinting scripts and phishing clones
Where I draw the line
- Using a VPN to look like you’re outside the US, or any restricted country, to reach the global app
- Accessing the platform from a country where the activity itself is illegal
- Treating a VPN as legal cover: it encrypts traffic, it doesn’t change the law where you are
Best VPNs for Polymarket in 2026: my detailed picks
I ranked these on what matters when money and crypto wallets are involved:
- Privacy track record and audited no-logs policies
- Security: kill switch, leak protection and malicious site blocking
- Speed retention during a live session
- Crypto payment support and price
1. Surfshark One: best overall and the fastest in my tests
Surfshark is my number one. In my speed runs it kept about 96% of my base connection, the best result of any VPN I tested, so pages and order screens stayed snappy.
It also runs on unlimited devices from one account, which is genuinely useful if you bounce between a phone and a laptop.

The Surfshark One plan is the one I recommend for crypto users, because it adds real security on top of the VPN:
- CleanWeb, which blocks ads, trackers and known malicious sites
- Surfshark Antivirus with real-time protection
- Surfshark Alert, which warns you if your email or personal data leaks in a breach
- Camouflage Mode obfuscation for networks that block or throttle VPN traffic
Privacy wise, it pairs an independently audited no-logs policy with RAM-only servers, and it accepts crypto at signup. The current deal is $2.79/mo on the 2-year plan, with 85% OFF and 3 extra months free.
What I liked
- Fastest VPN I tested, about 96% speed retention
- Unlimited simultaneous devices
- Antivirus, breach alerts and malicious site blocking in Surfshark One
- Audited no-logs policy and crypto payments
What I didn’t like
- Camouflage connections can take a moment longer
- Renewal price is higher than the first term
The full breakdown is in my Surfshark One review and on the Surfshark coupon page.
2. IPVanish: fast, budget friendly, unlimited devices
IPVanish is the value pick that surprised people most. It kept about 93% of my speed, the second best result in my tests, and like Surfshark it supports unlimited simultaneous connections.
It keeps a no-logs policy, the apps are clean and easy to use, and its Scramble feature helps on networks that block VPNs.

The trade-offs are a smaller country footprint than Proton or NordVPN, and no crypto payment option, so it’s not the one if anonymous billing matters. For pure speed per dollar, though, it’s excellent at $2.39/mo on the 24-month Essential plan.
What I liked
- About 93% speed retention
- Unlimited simultaneous devices
- Low price with a 3 GB eSIM data gift
What I didn’t like
- No crypto payments
- US-based, inside the Five Eyes alliance

- Unlimited devices
- No-logs policy
- 3200+ servers
- 24/7 support
3. Proton VPN: best for privacy
If your priority is keeping crypto and trading activity unlinked from your ISP, Proton VPN is the one I trust most. It’s Swiss-headquartered, its apps are open source on every platform, and its no-logs policy is independently audited.
Secure Core routes your traffic through a hardened first hop before it exits, and the Stealth protocol helps on restrictive networks. It kept about 92% of my speed with WireGuard.

NetShield blocks ads and trackers at the DNS level, which matters when crypto pages are stuffed with fingerprinting scripts. Proton also accepts crypto payments and has a free tier.
What I liked
- Open-source apps and audited no-logs policy
- Secure Core and NetShield
- Crypto payments accepted
What I didn’t like
- Support can be slow to respond
- Pricier than Surfshark One, with no antivirus

Compare all ten VPNs I test on speed, privacy and price. Surfshark One is my top pick for most people.
See the best VPNs in 2026 →4. PrivadoVPN: cheapest, and the best free option
PrivadoVPN is the budget champion and, if you want a free tier, the most usable one I tested. It’s based in Iceland, outside the 5/9/14 Eyes alliances, with a no-logs policy.
Speeds were solid rather than spectacular at about 85% retention, and the server network is smaller than the bigger names.

I see Privado as the pick for real privacy basics at the lowest price. The free plan is handy for testing the apps, and Premium is $1.11/mo on the 2-year plan, with 90% OFF and 3 extra months.
What I liked
- Cheapest VPN on this list
- Iceland-based with a no-logs policy
- Usable free plan
What I didn’t like
- No independent no-logs audit yet
- Slowest VPN on this list, about 85% retention

Iceland-based and the cheapest premium VPN on my list at $1.11/mo, with a generous free tier.
- Iceland-based

5. NordVPN: fast and feature rich, but pricier
NordVPN is a strong all-rounder with a deep feature set:
- The fast NordLynx protocol and obfuscated servers
- Threat Protection against malicious ads and trackers
- An audited no-logs policy on RAM-only servers
- Crypto payments
It kept about 91% of my speed, which is very good, but Surfshark was faster in my tests and costs noticeably less for similar core features. That’s why NordVPN sits below Surfshark One on my list.
The current offer is $3.59/mo on the Plus plan, with 75% OFF and 3 extra months. My Surfshark vs NordVPN comparison covers the full head-to-head.
What I liked
- About 91% speed retention
- Threat Protection and obfuscated servers
- Audited no-logs policy
What I didn’t like
- Slower and pricier than Surfshark One in my tests
- Limited to 10 devices

VeePN rounds out the list as a low-cost option with servers in 60+ countries and obfuscation for restrictive networks. It kept about 88% of my speed, supports 10 devices and accepts crypto.

It’s not as polished as my top three, but for $1.99/mo on the 2-year plan, with 83% OFF and 4 extra months, it covers the basics.
What I liked
- Low price with 4 bonus months
- Servers in 60+ countries
- Crypto payments accepted
What I didn’t like
- No independent audit of its no-logs policy
- Less polished apps than the top picks

Where is Polymarket blocked?
Per Polymarket’s own documentation, the global app is restricted in dozens of countries, mostly because of local gambling and derivatives rules. Alongside the United States, commonly listed blocked regions include:
| Region | Examples of blocked countries |
|---|---|
| North America | United States, Cuba, Nicaragua |
| Europe | Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, United Kingdom, Belarus, Russia |
| Asia | Singapore, Thailand, Iran, North Korea, Myanmar, Syria, Taiwan, Yemen |
| Oceania | Australia |
| South America | Venezuela |
Some places only allow viewing markets without trading, and some regions inside otherwise-allowed countries, such as Ontario in Canada, are blocked too. Lists change, so check Polymarket’s current restricted-countries page before you sign up.
How to use a VPN with Polymarket safely
If you live in a country where Polymarket is permitted, this is how I set up a VPN for privacy without causing account problems.
Choose a VPN with strong security
Pick one with an audited no-logs policy, a kill switch and malicious site blocking. Surfshark One worked best for me.
Turn on the kill switch and leak protection
This stops your real IP and DNS requests from leaking if the VPN connection drops in the middle of a session.
Connect to a server in the country where you live
Your VPN location should match your real, permitted location and the details on your account. A mismatch is what triggers flags and frozen accounts.
Sign in and keep the VPN on
Log in to your account and keep the same server for the whole session, so your connection doesn’t jump between locations.
Can a free VPN work with Polymarket?
Not reliably, in my experience. Free VPNs limit data, locations and server choice, and many standalone free VPNs log and sell your activity, which is the opposite of what you want around crypto and money.
If you want to start free, a freemium tier from Proton VPN or PrivadoVPN is the only direction I’d consider. For anything involving real money, I’d move to a paid plan with a money-back guarantee.
Polymarket flagging your VPN? What to do
Even good VPNs get flagged sometimes, usually because the IP is shared or looks like it’s in a restricted region. Work through these in order:
Quick fixes
- Make sure you’re connected to a server in your own, permitted country
- Clear your browser cookies and cache, then restart the browser
- Run a leak test and confirm the kill switch and DNS leak protection are on
If it still fails
- Pause the VPN for that session rather than trying to disguise your location
- Contact Polymarket support before moving funds
- If you’re in the US, switch to Polymarket US instead
How I tested and picked these VPNs
I weighted my testing toward what matters when money and crypto wallets are on the line:
- Privacy: audited no-logs policies, jurisdiction and crypto payment support.
- Security: kill switch reliability, DNS and IPv6 leak tests, and malicious site blocking.
- Speed: retention measured over real sessions, so order screens stayed responsive.
- Value: price, device limits and refund terms.
Surfshark One led on the combination of speed, security extras, device count and value.
Frequently asked questions
Can I bet on Polymarket in the US in 2026?
Yes, through Polymarket US, the CFTC regulated venue that launched in December 2025. It requires identity checks and settles in US dollars. The global app remains geoblocked for US IP addresses, and using a VPN to reach it breaches Polymarket’s terms.
Is it illegal to use a VPN for Polymarket?
Using a VPN is legal in the US and most countries. The risk comes from using one to bypass a regulatory geoblock, which violates Polymarket’s terms and can lead to account closure or frozen funds. This isn’t legal advice.
Can I get my funds frozen for using a VPN?
On the global app, yes, it’s a real possibility. Polymarket can freeze funds tied to US access to stay compliant with US regulators. That’s the main reason I steer US readers to Polymarket US.
Which VPN server location should I use for Polymarket?
Use a server in the country where you actually live, as long as Polymarket is permitted there. Matching your real location keeps your account consistent and avoids compliance flags.
Which VPN is fastest for Polymarket?
Surfshark was the fastest in my tests at about 96% speed retention, with IPVanish at about 93% and Proton VPN at about 92%. Surfshark gave the smoothest overall experience.
Will a free VPN work with Polymarket?
Rarely and unreliably, and many free VPNs log or sell your data. A freemium tier from a trusted provider is the only free route I’d consider, and for real money I’d move to a paid plan.
My final verdict
Surfshark One is the VPN I’d use around Polymarket and crypto. It was the fastest in my tests, covers unlimited devices and adds antivirus, breach alerts and malicious site blocking for $2.79/mo.
Just use it for privacy and security from a permitted location. If you’re in the US, Polymarket US is the lawful way to trade.
