If you’ve tried to visit Pornhub from the UK, you already know the problem. Since February 2, 2026, Pornhub has blocked UK users who didn’t verify their age before that date, so most people can’t log in, sign up or verify from a UK connection.
There’s one exception now: since May 2026, Aylo lets iPhone users whose age has been confirmed by Apple’s built-in check back onto Pornhub. Everyone on Android, desktop or an unverified iPhone is still locked out.
I work full-time in cybersecurity and have published more than 600 VPN videos over 3+ years on my AllThingsVPN and VPNR channels. In this guide, I show how adults can reach Pornhub from the UK with a VPN in October 2026, and which VPNs actually work.
How to unblock Pornhub in the UK (quick steps)
Get a reliable VPN
My top recommendation is Surfshark One, currently 85% off plus 3 months free at $2.79/mo. It’s fast, secure and works consistently on Pornhub from the UK.
Download and install the app
Install the app from the provider’s website or your phone’s app store, then sign in.
Connect to a server outside the UK
Ireland and the Netherlands are close to the UK, so speeds stay high, and Pornhub works there without restrictions. Avoid France and Italy, which have their own age checks.
Visit Pornhub in a private window
A fresh private window keeps old UK cookies from triggering the block. You can browse and watch without ID checks.
Why is Pornhub blocked in the UK?
The block is a deliberate choice by Pornhub’s owner, not a government takedown. The UK’s Online Safety Act requires adult sites to verify that every user is 18 or older, and Ofcom has enforced it since July 25, 2025.
Most adult platforms added ID checks, and Ofcom says all of the UK’s top 10 porn sites now comply. Aylo, which runs Pornhub, YouPorn, RedTube and Tube8, argued that collecting IDs from millions of adults is a privacy disaster that pushes people toward darker corners of the internet.
So Aylo blocked UK users who hadn’t verified before February 2, 2026. If you had a verified account, you can still log in. Since May 2026, iPhone users on iOS 26.4 or later who pass Apple’s device-level age check can get back in too.
Best VPNs to unblock Pornhub in the UK in 2026
I tested each of these VPNs from the UK, checking whether they get past the block, how they handle HD video and how private they are. Here is my shortlist, in order.

1. Surfshark One: best overall and the fastest VPN I tested
Surfshark One is my top pick, and it’s not particularly close. It kept about 96% of my base speed, the highest of any VPN I’ve tried, so HD and 4K video on Pornhub barely buffers.
The One plan adds features that suit private adult browsing. CleanWeb blocks aggressive ads and trackers, WireGuard keeps speeds high, and Camouflage mode hides the fact that you’re using a VPN at all.
Its no-logs policy is independently audited, and unlimited devices covers your phone, laptop and tablet at once. Irish and Dutch servers worked reliably in my tests. The deal is $2.79/mo on the 2-year plan with 85% off and 3 months free.
What I liked
- About 96% speed retention, fastest in my tests
- Unlimited simultaneous devices
- CleanWeb blocks ads and trackers on adult sites
- Camouflage mode for VPN-blocking networks
- Audited no-logs policy
What I didn’t like
- Some extras need the One plan
- Renewal price is higher than the first-term deal

2. IPVanish: unlimited devices, fast speeds and budget friendly
IPVanish is a solid runner-up. It kept about 93% of my base speed, plenty for buffer-free streaming, and reached Pornhub through European servers with no UK block.
It supports unlimited devices, and its apps are simpler than Surfshark’s, with less to configure. The deal is 84% off at $2.39/mo on the 24-month Essential plan, plus a 3 GB eSIM data gift. See my IPVanish review or the IPVanish coupon page.
What I liked
- About 93% speed retention
- Unlimited simultaneous connections
- Strong encryption and kill switch
What I didn’t like
- Fewer extras than Surfshark One
- Based in the US
Not sure which VPN fits you best?
Surfshark One is my top pick overall, but you can compare every VPN I've tested side by side in my full guide.
See all VPN comparisons →3. Proton VPN: best for privacy-focused users
If privacy is your main concern, which is understandable given why most UK users need a VPN here, Proton VPN deserves serious consideration. It comes from the Swiss company behind Proton Mail, and its apps are open source and independently audited.
It kept about 92% of my base speed, and its Stealth protocol helps on networks that block VPNs. The deal is 70% off at $2.99/mo on the 2-year plan. Read my Proton VPN review or the Proton VPN coupon page.
What I liked
- Open-source, audited apps
- Stealth protocol
- Free plan with no data cap
What I didn’t like
- Costs more than Surfshark One for fewer extras
- Free plan has limited server choice
4. PrivadoVPN: cheapest option and best free VPN
PrivadoVPN is the cheapest VPN I recommend at $1.11/mo on the 2-year plan, with 90% off and 3 months free. It’s based in Iceland with a no-logs policy, and its free plan gives you 10 GB per month.
It kept about 85% of my base speed, fine for HD but behind the leaders. Read my PrivadoVPN review.
5. NordVPN: one of the fastest, but pricier
NordVPN is fast and reliable at getting past geo-blocks. It kept about 91% of my base speed, but Surfshark consistently beats it in my side-by-side tests, and Nord costs more at $3.59/mo on the Plus plan with 75% off and 3 months free.
Threat Protection blocks ads and malware automatically. Read my NordVPN review, the NordVPN coupon page or my Surfshark vs NordVPN comparison.
What I liked
- Very large server network
- Threat Protection blocks ads and malware
- Audited no-logs policy
What I didn’t like
- Pricier than Surfshark One
- 10-device limit
6. VeePN: budget streaming pick
VeePN performed better than I expected, keeping about 88% of my base speed and getting past the UK block through European servers. It costs $1.99/mo on the 2-year plan with 83% off and 4 extra months free.
It lacks Surfshark’s polish and Proton’s privacy credentials, but it’s a capable budget pick. See my VeePN review.
7. ExpressVPN: easiest to use
ExpressVPN has the simplest apps I’ve tested and kept about 91% of my base speed. It costs $2.79/mo with 78% off and 4 months free, covering 10 devices on the Basic plan. It’s owned by Kape Technologies, which also owns CyberGhost and PIA. See my ExpressVPN review.

Which server location should I connect to?
Pick a country close to the UK for speed, with no Pornhub restrictions of its own. My top choices:
- Ireland: the closest option and consistently fast in my tests.
- Netherlands: very reliable, with lots of servers on every VPN I recommend.
- Switzerland: a good privacy-friendly backup.
- US (New York or California): works, but avoid the 27 states with age verification laws, such as Texas, Utah, Louisiana and Florida.
Is it legal to use a VPN to access Pornhub in the UK?
Yes. VPNs are legal in the UK, and millions of people use them for work, privacy and streaming. In July 2026, the government decided not to restrict or age-gate VPNs, saying they have legitimate privacy and security uses.
The Online Safety Act places obligations on platforms, not adult users. Watching legal adult content as an adult isn’t a criminal offence, and Ofcom’s enforcement targets non-compliant websites.
Should I use a free VPN to unblock Pornhub?
For most people, no. Free VPNs are slow and capped, and many make money by logging and selling user data, which is a serious risk when browsing adult content.
Their few, heavily used servers are also often flagged by sites like Pornhub, so the block may persist even with the VPN on.
If you want to start free, Proton VPN’s free plan offers unlimited data and Dutch servers that work for Pornhub, and PrivadoVPN’s free plan gives you 10 GB per month. Every paid VPN on my list also has a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Which adult sites are available in the UK?
Pornhub isn’t the only affected platform. Here’s where the major adult sites stand for UK users in my latest checks.
| Adult site | UK access status |
|---|---|
| Pornhub | ❌ Blocked for new users, except iPhones verified by Apple |
| YouPorn | ❌ Blocked for new users |
| RedTube | ❌ Blocked for new users |
| Tube8 | ❌ Blocked for new users |
| xHamster | ✅ Accessible with age verification (Yoti or ID) |
| XNXX | ✅ Accessible with age verification |
| XVideos | ✅ Accessible with age verification |
| Chaturbate | ✅ Accessible with age verification |
| Stripchat | ✅ Accessible with age verification |
| OnlyFans | ✅ Accessible with credit card verification |
| SpankBang | ✅ Accessible with age verification |
| Brazzers | ✅ Accessible with age verification |
| ePorner | ✅ Accessible with age verification |
| FabSwingers | ✅ Accessible with age verification |
| RedGIFs | ✅ Accessible, adult content needs verification |
All four blocked sites belong to Aylo. The others chose to comply with the Online Safety Act by adding age checks, and a VPN works for every site on this list from the same connection.
Common problems and how to fix them
- Still seeing the block: you may be on a server in a country with its own checks. Switch to Ireland or the Netherlands and clear your cookies.
- Videos buffering: pick a closer server or use the “Fastest server” option, and switch to WireGuard.
- Can’t log in to an existing account: connect the VPN before opening Pornhub, and reconnect if it dropped mid-session.
- Pornhub won’t load at all: your network may block VPNs. Turn on Surfshark’s Camouflage mode or Proton’s Stealth protocol.
Frequently asked questions
Why can’t I access Pornhub in the UK?
Since February 2, 2026, Aylo has blocked UK users who didn’t verify before that date, in response to the Online Safety Act. A VPN server outside the UK is the most reliable way back in.
Can I get back on Pornhub with my iPhone?
Yes, if your iPhone runs iOS 26.4 or later and Apple has confirmed you’re over 18. Android, desktop and unverified iPhones are still blocked from UK connections.
Is it legal to use a VPN to watch Pornhub in the UK?
Yes, for adults. VPNs are legal in the UK, and the Online Safety Act puts obligations on platforms, not individual users.
What is the best VPN to unblock Pornhub in the UK?
Surfshark One. It had the highest speed retention in my tests at about 96%, supports unlimited devices, includes CleanWeb and costs $2.79/mo on the 2-year plan. Proton VPN is the privacy-first alternative.
Which server location should I use to unblock Pornhub?
Ireland and the Netherlands are the best choices for UK users. If you use a US server, pick New York or California and avoid states with age verification laws such as Texas, Utah or Florida.
Can I use a free VPN to access Pornhub in the UK?
Most free VPNs are slow, capped and risky for privacy. Proton VPN’s free plan and PrivadoVPN’s free plan are the two I’d trust; otherwise, use a paid VPN’s 30-day money-back guarantee.
Can I create a new Pornhub account in the UK?
Not from a UK IP address, unless you’re on a verified iPhone. With a VPN connected to a non-UK server, Pornhub sees a foreign IP and lets you sign up.
Why did Pornhub block the UK instead of adding age verification?
Aylo argues that making millions of adults upload ID to a porn site is a major privacy risk and pushes users toward less regulated sites. It has instead backed device-level checks like Apple’s.
Does a VPN work for other blocked adult sites in the UK?
Yes. The same connection unlocks YouPorn, RedTube and Tube8 as well as Pornhub.
Can minors use a VPN to bypass age verification?
No, and they shouldn’t try. Age verification exists to protect young people, and this guide is for adults only.
