In 2026, Spicychat AI rolled out mandatory age verification for NSFW chats in the UK, France, Italy, Australia and 26 US states, including Texas, Florida and Georgia. If you’ve opened an NSFW chat and been asked for a video selfie or government ID, you’re not alone.
The list keeps growing. West Virginia was added in June 2026, and Australia’s new codes now cover AI chatbots with sexual content too.

There are two separate questions to keep in mind:
- Is using a VPN legal? Yes, in most countries. A few, such as China, Iran and Belarus, restrict them.
