Since January 1, 2025, Pornhub and many other adult sites have been blocked in South Carolina, and they still are in October 2026. The cause is House Bill 3424, which requires adult websites to verify every visitor’s age.
Rather than collect government IDs, Pornhub, Redtube, YouPorn and Tube8 blocked South Carolina entirely. Visit from an SC address and you just get a block page.

South Carolina’s age verification law explained
HB 3424 was signed by Governor Henry McMaster in 2024 and took effect on January 1, 2025. It requires websites that host a substantial amount of adult content to verify that visitors are over 18, usually through a third-party ID upload or a face scan.
The law is enforced through private lawsuits: people can sue sites that fail to keep minors out. The goal of protecting kids is hard to argue with, but for adults it creates a real privacy problem.
Uploading a driver’s license to a porn site, or to a verification company, exposes sensitive data to breaches and misuse. That’s why Aylo blocked South Carolina instead, as it has in 25 of the 27 states with similar laws.

Why does Pornhub think I’m in South Carolina?
Pornhub reads your location from your IP address, which your provider assigns. Your ISP may route traffic through South Carolina even if you’re just over the border in North Carolina or Georgia.
